Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Resource Planning Analyst at varying levels to develop and maintain long-range resource planning models for our generation portfolio. You will analyze energy production, emissions, and capital budgets, and support regulatory filings with rigorous quantitative analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, operations research, mathematics or business.
• Two years of energy industry experience or equivalent experience with large optimization/forecasting models.
• Five or more years related work experience (Analyst II) or significant experience in planning and modeling for Senior roles.

Responsibilities

• Develop, run, and maintain long-range resource planning models.
• Produce quantitative analyses for executives and regulatory filings.
• Implement Monte Carlo simulations to quantify risk in generation plans.
• Coordinate with Forecasting, Risk Management, Trading, and operations groups to align short- and long-range plans.
• Ensure expansion plans reflect fuel costs, production capability, and contract terms.
• Research new optimization techniques for resource planning.
