Job summary

Metro Associates in Buffalo, NY seeks a Senior Energy + Environment Project Manager to lead advanced energy and environmental projects in Western New York. You’ll connect technical expertise with client and regulatory needs, oversee multi-disciplinary teams, and drive project delivery from planning through closeout.

You’ll manage business development, client relationships, and agency interactions while mentoring teammates and expanding capabilities across energy, environment, and permitting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Geology, Environmental/Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of site investigation, permitting, environmental compliance, and project management experience.
• Strong technical and business development background.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development efforts and manage mid- to large-scale energy and environmental projects.
• Oversee program-wide projects, including setup, planning, safety analysis, kickoff, scope, schedule, staffing, and budgets.
• Develop project strategies and design approaches that meet client objectives with regular client communication.
• Manage billing, client updates, QA/QC, closeout, and compliance with project plans.
• Prepare compliant project proposals and serve as Proposal Manager and primary client contact.
• Navigate complex public processes, municipal approvals, regulatory requirements, and environmental permitting.
• Represent clients in agency meetings, manage subcontractors, negotiate regulatory conditions, and guide project teams.
