Job summary

Prometheus Energetics in Bloomington, IN seeks an experienced Senior Manufacturing & Process Engineer to lead transitioning from startup to high-rate production of solid rocket motors and warheads.

You will own manufacturing processes, SWIs, tooling integration, and line layouts, partnering with Engineering, Operations, Quality, EHS, and technology-transfer teams to ensure safety, quality, and customer performance. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 6+ years in aerospace/defense manufacturing, process, or tooling engineering.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and PDM/PLM systems (Windchill).
• Solid GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5 and precision metal fabrication.
• Experience creating assembly routers, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and SWIs from complex drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to interact with executives.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain clearance (Secret).

Responsibilities

• Establish and sustain manufacturing processes, SWIs, routers, and tooling for SRM cast/cure and assembly.
• Analyze flows, ergonomics, line balance to optimize throughput.
• Serve as primary manufacturing engineering contact on active lines.
• Partner with Tooling to translate design to robust tooling and fixtures.
• Define equipment specs and manage acquisition and integration.
• Lead on-site installation, load testing, and line buy-off.
• Participate in MRB, evaluate non-conforming hardware, implement containment.
• Lead RCCA investigations using 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D.
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma, PFMEA, SPC, poke-yoke for high first-pass yield.
