PSEG Long Island is seeking an Electrical Engineer to perform electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies for the LIPA transmission system, integrating models for inverter-based resources, HVDC/FACTS devices using PSCAD or similar tools. The role includes developing EMT modeling capabilities and mentoring planning engineers.

The position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years in power systems, with strong background in load flow, stability, and NERC standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience in power systems analysis preferred.
• Willingness to travel to attend meetings/conferences as needed.
• Understanding of EMT concepts and IBR/HVDC/FACTS devices desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies for LIPA transmission system using PSCAD or equivalent.
• Develop in-house EMT models and maintain documentation and outputs for planning studies.
• Establish model validation practices to ensure accuracy of EMT models.
• Conduct complex transient studies for transmission and large loads with inverter-based resources.
