Vast Space Llc. is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to serve as the primary employment-law advisor to the People Team and all business units. You will lead strategy, guidance, and compliance across CA wage/hour, leaves, hiring, and pay equity, enabling scalable people operations for a fast‑growing space company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a legal role at a private company or law firm.
• JD with admission to practice law in a state bar and in-house California.
• Start-up/high-growth employment law experience.
• Familiarity with contingent workforce.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise on employment law for the People Team and all business units.
• Lead employment-law strategy, policy drafting, and compliance.
• Handle multi-state compliance and AI-use implications in the workplace.
• Support workplace investigations and training materials development.
• Assist with hiring documents and onboarding policies.
