Job summary

Ramp is seeking an Employment Counsel to join its Legal team. This role focuses on US employment counseling with broader international coverage, and ownership of immigration and global mobility.

You will collaborate closely with People, Talent, Finance, Tax, and business leaders, while supervising outside counsel where needed. You should have 8+ years in employment law, a JD, and active bar membership (NY/CA preferred).

Qualifications

• 8+ years practicing employment law, with top law firm and in-house at a high-growth tech company.
• JD from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (New York or California preferred).
• Deep U.S. employment counseling across the full employee lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of employment law outside the U.S. and quick triage of cross-border questions.
• Hands-on experience with U.S. business immigration and global mobility, including sponsorship programs.
• Ability to independently run multiple time-sensitive matters.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication; guidance that a manager can act on in one reading.
• High judgment on sensitive matters and time-pressured advising.
• Bias toward action in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day employment counseling: advise on hiring, classification, compensation, leaves, performance, discipline, separations.
• Immigration and global mobility: manage immigration program, sponsorship policy, outside counsel, relocations and cross-border requests.
• Investigations: advise on internal investigations and outcomes.
• Disputes: handle demand letters, agency charges, arbitrations, and litigation with outside counsel.
• Agreements and templates: own employment-related agreements and covenants across locales.
• Transactions: support diligence, employee transitions, and post-close integration for M&A and new markets.
• Build for scale: create manager training, policies, self-serve guidance, and scalable processes.
