Job summary

Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ seeks an Employment Counsel (claims manager) to lead employment-related claims, agency matters, and litigation across its medical centers and affiliates.

The role requires managing assigned directors & officers and EPL claims, reviewing demand letters and lawsuits, coordinating outside counsel, supervising discovery and trial preparation, and ensuring compliance with internal guidelines.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum employment litigation experience. In addition claims handling experience preferred.
• Licensed Attorney in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Review demand letters, complaints, requests, and other docs; summarize claims and recommend disposition.
• Conduct factual investigations in collaboration with Human Resources and other leaders.
• Coordinate assignment and oversight of outside counsel on matters; ensure adherence to guidelines.
• Coordinate discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, litigation strategy, settlements and trial prep.
• Investigate and prepare responses to EEOC, NJDCR, and Department of Labor matters.
• Plan and prepare claim summaries for internal committee meetings.
• Manage claims via the electronic claims management system.
• Communicate internally on litigation issues and support corrective action plans.
