Remote, based out of Illinois with a focus on the Chicago market. Youll work from home while collaborating closely with a multi-state team and traveling occasionally for hearings, depositions, mediations, and key firm events.
You must be licensed to practice law in Illinois, have strong civil litigation experience (including discovery, motion practice, and depositions), and be comfortable working remotely full-time with occasional travel.
Our client is a rapidly growing plaintiff-side law firm with a powerhouse reputation in wage-and-hour, employment, consumer rights, and class action litigation. They prosecute complex class and representative actions against regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies, and have recovered millions for thousands of workers and consumers. As they expand into Illinois, they are building a strong Chicago-focused practice and need seasoned litigators who share their commitment to justice and client advocacy.
- Serve as a Senior Associate Attorney on wage-and-hour, employment, and consumer class and representative actions in Illinois and federal courts
- Lead and manage all phases of complex civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation
- Draft, edit, and argue substantive motions, including dispositive and class-related motions, in state and federal courts
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts, and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony
- Develop and execute case strategy in collaboration with firm leadership and junior team members
- Appear remotely and in person for court hearings, conferences, and other proceedings as needed
- Mentor junior attorneys and staff, helping to develop best practices and strengthen the Illinois practice
- Travel occasionally for hearings, depositions, mediations, and internal meetings
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing
- Several years of civil litigation experience, ideally 5+ years, including substantial discovery, motion practice, and taking/defending depositions
- Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and/or wage-and-hour or employment matters strongly preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills with a strategic, detail-oriented approach
- Proven ability to independently manage complex cases and a busy litigation docket in a remote environment
- Professional, steady work history and strong client-facing skills
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and an interest in helping grow a high-performing, plaintiff-side practice in Illinois
- Youll have a visible, senior role in building out a new geographic market for a well-established plaintiff-side firm
- Youll collaborate with a collegial group of experienced litigators who value mentorship, high-quality advocacy, and work with purpose
