Job summary

Orion Placement is hiring a Senior Associate Attorney to lead wage-and-hour, employment, and consumer class actions in New York state and federal courts. You will manage all phases of complex civil litigation, including discovery, motions, depositions, and trial preparation, while mentoring junior staff.

You will develop litigation strategy in collaboration with firm leadership and regularly appear in court for hearings and conferences, supporting a growing New York practice and office culture

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York (NY Bar in good standing required).
• Several years of civil litigation experience, preferably 5+ years, including discovery, motion practice, and taking/defending depositions.
• Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and/or wage-and-hour/employment cases strongly preferred.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills with a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Senior Associate Attorney handling wage-and-hour, employment, and consumer class and representative actions in New York state and federal courts.
• Lead and manage all phases of complex civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Draft, edit, and argue substantive motions, including dispositive and class-related motions, in state and federal courts.
• Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs, defendants, fact witnesses, and experts, and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony.
• Develop and execute litigation strategy in collaboration with firm leadership and junior team members.
• Appear in court regularly for hearings, conferences, and other proceedings, representing clients with confidence and professionalism.
• Mentor and support junior attorneys and staff, helping to build a strong New York practice and office culture.
• Travel occasionally for hearings, depositions, mediations, and firm-related needs.

Note: You must be licensed to practice law in New York, have solid civil litigation experience (ideally including discovery, motion practice, and depositions), and be able to work on-site full-time in Manhattan with occasional travel.
