Job summary

The British Medical Association (BMA Cymru/Wales) is seeking an Employment Adviser to provide dedicated case representation and guidance to members. The role involves in-person and Teams-based support, presenting cases to employers or appeal panels, and contributing to local campaigns within workplaces.

This full-time position is based in Cardiff, with a hybrid pattern requiring a minimum of 2 days in the Cardiff office, and a requirement to live within the region or a commutable distance.

Qualifications

• Extensive working experience of complex casework advising / representing employees and /or employers.
• Up to date and in-depth expert knowledge of employment law, employee relations, HR policies, procedures and good practice.
• Knowledge of NHS doctors terms and NHS structures in Wales.
• Understanding of key issues facing the medical profession in Wales is desirable.
• Ability to manage a demanding workload.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal, networking and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent negotiation & influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual case representation, in person and via Teams.
• Prepare and present cases to employers, internal or external appeal panels.
• Assist with development and delivery of local BMA campaigns in workplaces.
• Support members in undertaking campaigns in their places of work.
