Job summary

City of Leander seeks an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to provide guidance on employee relations, investigations, and performance management. The role collaborates with senior HR leaders and legal advisors to manage risk and improve processes.

The position requires a bachelor’s in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and a minimum of several years in employee relations, including investigations and corrective actions. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 4+ years in employee relations including investigations and performance management.
• High school diploma with 8+ years in employee relations could substitute for degree requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to management and staff on employee relations policies and programs.
• Advises supervisors on root causes and strategies for addressing problems, coaching through actions.
• Leads or participates in investigations, including interviews, fact finding, documentation, and recommendations.
• Develops corrective action plans or disciplinary documents; monitors outcomes.
• Maintains confidentiality and documentation; conducts exit interviews and compiles turnover data.
• Assists with unemployment claims and hearings; updates policies and SOPs as needed.
• Contributes to HR projects and process improvements.
