Job summary

Oregon State University Human Resources is seeking one or more Employee & Labor Relations Officers. These are full-time, 12-month professional faculty positions with ELR Officer 1 or ELR Officer 2 levels depending on qualifications.

You will support policy, laws, and bargaining agreements, collaborating with unions and HR Centers of Expertise. A criminal history check is required and the position offers growth under an Associate Director’s guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional-level Human Resources experience or strongly transferable work experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Prior experience or strong transferable skills in coaching supervisors/employees on performance management matters.
• Ability to analyze complex and sensitive issues and situations, identify alternative solutions, forecast consequences of proposed actions, and implement effective course of action.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness, collaboration and teamwork across organizational levels and boundaries.

Responsibilities

• The ELR Officer will support program reviews and recommend process improvement to internal operations and controls, as well as internal service delivery.
• Collaborates with HR Centers of Expertise and other stakeholders on the oversight and administration of human resources administrative processes and activities.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for employee and labor relation matters pertaining to assigned employee groups.
• Key fact-finder in employee performance and/or departmental compliance with university policy and laws.
• When assigned, serves as a negotiation team member or note taker and may support bargaining proposals and mediation.
• Conducts fact-finding relating to grievance and/or legal actions filed by represented groups and collaborates with related offices.
