Job summary

The Chicago office of a premier AmLaw 50 law firm seeks a Senior Emerging Technologies & Data Privacy Associate Attorney to advise on privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and emerging technology matters.

This hybrid role offers exposure to leading technology clients, opportunities for mentorship, and significant client interaction, with a compensation range of $310,000 to $435,000+.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions at a sophisticated law firm.
• Experience advising on U.S. and international privacy laws including GDPR/CCPA.
• Counseling on AI, emerging technologies, digital products and tech commercialization.
• Drafting/negotiating data processing, technology, software licensing, SaaS and privacy policies.
• Experience with data breaches, incident response, and regulatory investigations preferred.
• Knowledge of FTC/state privacy laws and evolving privacy regulations.
• Strong drafting, analytical, problem-solving and client counseling skills.
• Ability to manage sophisticated matters with significant client interaction.
• Excellent academic credentials; J.D. from ABA-accredited school.
• Illinois bar admission required or ability to become admitted.

Responsibilities

Compensation

$310,000 – $435,000+

A premier global law firm is seeking a Senior Emerging Technologies & Data Privacy Associate Attorney to join its Chicago office.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in advising innovative companies on cutting-edge privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology matters.

Ideal Background

• 5+ years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, or regulatory counseling gained at a sophisticated law firm
• Experience advising clients regarding U.S. and international privacy laws, including consumer privacy, data governance, and cybersecurity compliance
• Experience counseling clients on artificial intelligence (AI), emerging technologies, digital products, and technology commercialization
• Experience drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, technology agreements, software licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, privacy policies, and related commercial contracts
• Experience advising clients regarding data breaches, incident response, cybersecurity preparedness, and regulatory investigations is preferred
• Experience counseling clients on FTC, state privacy laws, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other evolving privacy regulations is a plus
• Strong drafting, analytical, problem-solving, and client counseling skills
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated matters while maintaining significant client interaction
• Excellent academic credentials
