Job summary

Broward County seeks an Emergency Management Specialist, Senior to lead municipal coordination and incident response planning within Broward County. You will develop and update emergency plans, coordinate training, and support credentialing for EOC personnel across municipalities.

The role requires strong communication, relationship-building, and incident command experience, with readiness for recall during disasters and potential weekend/holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, liberal arts, or emergency management related field.
• Four years of emergency management planning experience in an emergency management agency, including writing plans.
• Valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
• Ability to pass a Homeland Security background check.
• Completion of FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 courses within six months.

Responsibilities

• Directs the municipal branch and coordinates with municipalities and universities within Broward County.
• Provides credentialing support for EOC personnel and maintains emergency contacts for municipalities.
• Delivers training to municipal and regional representatives and conducts incident management system training.
• Reviews and updates emergency plans, SOPs, and guides; coordinates exercises and training.
• Acts as duty officer providing 24-hour emergency coverage on a rotating basis.
• Participates in training and continuing education; designs and conducts training exercises.
• Performs related work as assigned.
