Job summary

General Motors seeks a Power Electronics EMC Technical Specialist to lead EMC engineering for Power Electronics & Traction Inverter hardware, guiding designs from concept through production. This is a hands-on technical leadership role.

The specialist will influence architecture and design decisions, develop practical mitigation strategies, lead root-cause investigations, and partner with internal engineering teams, suppliers, test organizations, and program leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
8+ years hands-on hardware experience with high-voltage power electronics.
Strong EMC expertise including emissions, immunity, grounding, shielding.
Experience designing or validating EMC for power electronics or electric drives.
Experience with EMC modeling and correlating predictions to measurements.
Willingness to travel periodically.

Responsibilities

Define and lead EMC design strategies for Power Electronics & Traction Inverters.
Develop mitigation strategies and lead root-cause investigations.
Schedule, execute, and document EMC testing.
Partner with design, controls, software, validation, and validation teams.
Create reusable EMC guidelines, checklists, modeling practices, and lessons learned.
Mentor engineers and raise the organization’s capability in power-electronics EMC design.
