Job summary

Traka (ASSA ABLOY) is seeking a Sr. Firmware Engineer II to research, prototype, and implement wireless and embedded technologies for next-generation connected access products.

You will architect firmware for smart locks and control devices from bring-up through production readiness. The role requires 5 years of embedded wireless firmware experience, 4 years in Embedded C for battery-powered RTOS devices, and strong skills in drivers, wired interfaces, and low-power design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5 years of related experience.
• 5 years designing embedded wireless connectivity firmware for secure device communication.
• 4 years Embedded C for battery-powered RTOS devices with hardware integration.
• 4 years RTOS-based real-time embedded applications.

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging wireless and embedded technologies for next-generation connected access products.
• Design and architect embedded systems and firmware for smart locks and access control from bring-up to production readiness.
• Develop embedded firmware features including sensor integration, proximity-based functionality, and low-power operation.
• Integrate Bluetooth LE, Wi‑Fi, and other wireless protocols for secure device connectivity with apps and cloud services.
• Design and evolve firmware architectures using RTOS or bare-metal for reliable operation.
• Develop and optimize power-management strategies for long battery life in resource-constrained devices.
• Collaborate with IP teams to identify and document patentable firmware innovations.
