Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager in the United States. The role leads embedded software efforts within the engineering management team and helps shape the product development strategy, budget, and team growth.

The position requires extensive embedded programming experience, leadership skills, and a strong background in RTOS, I/O drivers, and microcontrollers. Travel within the Continental U.S. may be required as projects advance.

Qualifications

BS degree in CS/EE or related; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
12+ years embedded programming experience.
2+ years in a supervisory role.
8+ years across multiple engineering projects focused on embedded software.
Experience with RTOS, I/O drivers, and micro-controllers.
Familiar with I2C, SPI, CAN, USB.
Willingness to travel within the Continental U.S.

Responsibilities

Manage budget planning, staffing, training, performance evaluation and career development.
Collaborate with management, production, and marketing to define product design requirements.
Plan, coordinate, and direct engineering development projects; review design decisions.
Design and implement software applications as an individual contributor.
Design embedded software drivers and applications on micro-controllers.
Verify and document product designs per quality and regulatory guidelines.
Work in an Agile environment coordinating software projects including scope and resourcing.
Participate in testing, test witnessing, and certification of software.
Interact with senior management; establish budgets, schedules and plans.
