Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Waltham, MA is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design and program firmware for test and measurement products in an agile R&D setting.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to product backlog, implement secure coding practices, and participate in code reviews and daily scrums.

The role emphasizes strong C/C++, Python, and Linux/Windows programming, with opportunities in advanced hardware interfaces and real-world testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in embedded software design.
• Advanced experience with microcontrollers and access libraries.
• Ability to program in a Windows or Linux environment.
• Ability to program in C/C++.
• Ability to program in Python, an asset.
• Experience with optimization techniques (speed, memory space, multi-threading, ...).
• Knowledge of a decentralized version control tool (git, mercurial, ...).
• Experience with Design Patterns.
• Experience with secure development lifecycle is preferred.
• Fluency in mathematics (linear algebra and trigonometry).
• Experience with UML is an asset.
• Have made a significant contribution to the development of commercially successful products.
• Knowledge of test and measurement applications.
• Intermediate English.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for new products in test and measurement.
• Contribute to product backlog and sprint planning in an agile environment.
• Define and deploy a CI and refactoring strategy with DevOps collaboration.
• Design secure controls and interfaces between software and hardware.
• Perform code reviews and participate in Daily Scrums.
• Transfer to production with production engineering tooling.
