Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead architecture, design, and integration of complex embedded software systems. You will own subsystems from concept through deployment and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires strong C/C++ and Python skills, Bare-Metal/RTOS/Embedded Linux experience, and collaboration across systems, FPGA, hardware, and verification teams. U.S. citizenship and security clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of embedded software development experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in C and C++ with strong Python.
• Experience in Bare-M metal, FreeRTOS, and Embedded Linux environments.
• Experience with AMD/Xilinx Zynq MPSoC or MicroBlaze platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software components.
• Own software architecture decisions for products and features.
• Develop for Bare-Metal, RTOS, and Embedded Linux environments.
• Design low-level drivers, middleware, and communication protocols.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews.
• Collaborate with systems, FPGA, hardware, and verification teams.
