Job summary

ACV Auctions is seeking an Engineer IV, Embedded Systems to architect and deliver high‑performance software across edge devices and ARM SOMs. You will wire low‑level drivers, optimize for edge compute, and collaborate with hardware and cloud teams to create scalable, reliable platforms.

You will own the software lifecycle from prototype to production, ensuring robust fault tolerance, security, and efficient automation. A strong emphasis on mentorship and code quality is part of the role.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 6+ years’ professional embedded software experience shipping hardware products.
• Proficient in C/C++ with strong Python/Bash scripting for testing/automation.
• Deep experience with Embedded Linux (kernel, device trees, drivers).
• Hands-on work on Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
• Strong knowledge of hardware interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB.
• Experience with Git, CMake, Docker, and CI/CD for embedded targets.
• Familiarity with networking stacks and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT, gRPC).
• Comfort with lab equipment for debugging hardware/software boundary issues.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain embedded software from prototype to production on embedded platforms.
• Develop firmware/middleware on Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and ARM SOMs.
• Write low-level drivers for cameras and sensors; integrate peripherals via I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN.
• Leverage edge compute and acceleration (CUDA/TensorRT) for real-time processing.
• Ensure robust OTA firmware updates and field stability.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and cloud backend teams on system architectures.
• Mentor junior engineers and enforce code quality via reviews and tests.
• Participate in cross-functional reviews and documentation.
