LMK Recruiting Solutions seeks a Senior Embedded Systems & Controls Engineer to design and own supervisory logic governing how subsystems communicate, react under pressure, and fail safely. You will work in a lab with real hardware and a flight controller, owning the end-to-end system.

The role requires strong C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink model-based design, and hands-on lab experience within safety-critical contexts. Expect lab work and end-to-end ownership.

Responsibilities

About the Company

Our client is building safety-critical flight systems — hardware that has to work perfectly, every single time, with zero room for "close enough."

About the Role

They need a Senior Embedded Systems & Controls Software Engineer to design and own the supervisory logic that governs how every subsystem in the machine talks to each other, reacts under pressure, and fails safely when something goes wrong. This isn't a role where you write code and hand it off. You'll be in the lab, hands on real hardware, watching your logic run on an actual flight controller — and owning it end to end.

Responsibilities

• System Control & Logic — Architect the core state machines that govern power-up, everyday flight operations, and emergency fault recovery
• Embedded Development — Write clean, safety-critical code in C/C++, and use MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design on real-time microcontrollers
• Hardware Bring-Up — Get your hands dirty in the lab — test on real boards, debug communication issues with a scope or logic analyzer, and make sure it runs predictably every time
• Communication Architecture — Design and manage how subsystems talk to each other over CAN, SPI, and Ethernet

Qualifications

• 5+ years writing embedded software for real-time, physical hardware systems — not simulation-only work

Required Skills

• Strong C/C++ and model-based design experience (MATLAB/Simulink)
• You genuinely like being in the lab — working alongside EEs, debugging with scopes and logic analyzers, getting your hands on the hardware
• Solid grasp of CAN, SPI, or similar communication protocols, including fault handling

Preferred Skills

• Bonus: background in EVs, robotics, aviation, or safety-critical systems (ISO 26262, DO-178C)

Pay range and compensation package

$150K–$250K, negotiable based on experience, plus equity
