Silicon Labs is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer in Austin, TX to lead embedded software development for next‑generation silicon platforms. You will work across product groups and with key customers to prototype, validate, and accelerate adoption of new devices.

The role emphasizes architecture, system‑level design, and reference designs, with opportunities to mentor and drive technical excellence in a cross‑functional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 6–10 years of embedded software experience.
• Experience with C/C++ on microcontrollers (bare-metal/RTOS).
• Experience with RTOS (Zephyr) and Linux-based systems.
• Strong debugging across hardware/software boundaries.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, DMA, interrupts.
• Embedded ML/Edge AI on resource-constrained devices.
• Performance, power, security optimization in embedded systems.
• Proven experience solving complex technical challenges with customers.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation and validation of embedded software for next‑gen silicon platforms.
• Develop system-level solutions using Silicon Labs hardware/software.
• Drive proofs‑of‑concept demos, evaluation platforms, and reference designs.
• Lead debugging and root‑cause analysis across hardware/software issues.
• Collaborate with Product, Firmware, Hardware, Systems, and Applications teams.
• Partner with strategic customers to translate requirements and accelerate adoption.
• Define and maintain high‑quality application examples and documentation.
• Optimize embedded applications for performance, power, security, scalability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.
