Job summary

Astranis seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate flight software for the spacecraft, interfacing with the Flight Computer and custom hardware. The role entails architecture decisions, high-level design, coding, testing, and mentoring a team within the Network Software group.

You will collaborate across Payload, Ground Control, and Telemetry teams to ensure software runs on multiple hardware platforms, contributing to government and commercial programs.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience developing software for products in modern C++ or C.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies and design patterns.
• Experience with communication protocols TCP/IP, I2C, SPI.
• Excellent communication and written skills.
• Passionate about space technology.
• Experience with high availability/high reliability systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop Software for the Flight Computer / Earth Stations Hub for our Satellites.
• Develop Firmware for control boards on the satellite/ Earth Stations Hub.
• Improve and deliver reliable software through requirements generation, Design continuous integration, automated testing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with multiple teams (Payload, Communications Ground Control, Telemetry).
• Develop software in C++ to interface with Flight computer and interface with the custom hardware on the vehicle.
• Deliver complex projects through incremental development; mentor junior engineers.
