Job summary

Innoflight in San Diego, CA, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer III to design and implement embedded software for satellite avionics and data processing. You will work on real-time monitoring, power management, and Linux board support for flight applications, collaborating with hardware and FPGA engineers to deliver rugged, Low-SWaP products.

The role requires 5+ years of embedded experience in C/C++, familiarity with ARM Cortex/RISC-V, and strong cryptography knowledge. A U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience in C/C++ for Linux and/or RTOS.
• Deep knowledge of embedded platforms, multi-core processors, and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe).
• Experience configuring bootloaders (U-Boot, GRUB) and customizing Linux kernels.
• Proficient with networking protocols (IP, TLS, IPsec) and cryptographic systems (AES, RSA, ECDSA, ECDH).
• Familiarity with Git, Jira and modern software development workflows; strong technical communication.
• OpenCL/CUDA experience is a plus; prior aerospace/defense experience and COMSEC knowledge desirable.
• Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop Embedded Software Systems: embedded C/C++ for multi-core processors and FPGA-integrated systems (Xilinx, Microchip, Vorago).
• Build and customize Linux platforms: kernel and bootloader modifications for flight applications.
• Implement secure communications: networking and cryptographic functionality and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, SpaceWire, Ethernet).
• Drive end-to-end development: translate requirements into robust software; participate in design, integration, validation, testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams; support system integration and debug software/hardware issues; present updates.
• Manage development lifecycle: track features, bugs, and builds using standard tools.
