Job summary

Hypertherm Associates seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of plasma cutting technology. Build embedded software for plasma cutting systems, including firmware and development tools; design real-time control and device drivers; collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust software that meets stringent industrial requirements.

Requirements include a BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering with 10–12 years of experience, proficiency in C/C++, RTOS experience,

Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with 10–12 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency with C/C++ and understanding of object-oriented development.
Experience with RTOS-based microcontrollers and embedded systems.
Knowledge of Git, GitHub, and Atlassian toolchains for version control and collaboration.
Familiarity with real-time software concerns like multi-threading and concurrency.
Experience with network protocols (TCP/UDP) and embedded software development.

Responsibilities

Build embedded software solutions for plasma cutting systems, including firmware for embedded subsystems and software tools for development and test.
Develop features for RTOS-based real-time control systems and support hardware/software integration.
Write device drivers for sensors and peripherals and interface with cross-functional teams.
Analyze and improve efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
Evaluate tools, technologies, and processes and implement industry-standard practices.
