Job summary

Hypertherm Associates is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of plasma cutting technology. You will build embedded software, including firmware for subsystems, and develop software tools to support development and testing.

You will write device drivers for sensors and peripherals and contribute across the full software lifecycle. You will work with cross-functional teams, enhance system performance, and support hardware/software integration.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field
• 10–12 years of relevant experience
• Strong C/C++ programming proficiency
• Real-time embedded software concepts (RTOS, multi-threading)

Responsibilities

• Build embedded software for plasma cutting systems, including firmware for subsystems and software tools for development and test.
• Write device drivers for sensors and peripherals.
• Develop features for RTOS-based real-time control systems.
• Interface with cross-functional design teams and support hardware/software integration.
• Evaluate tools and processes to improve efficiency, stability and scalability.
