Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering in Salt Lake City to help build foundational systems within our System Software group.

The role focuses on embedded real-time software across VxWorks and Linux, contributing to core architectures for defense and intelligence operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, and support testing, documentation, and peer reviews.

Qualifications

• Embedded real-time software development experience (VxWorks/Linux).
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to define system design.
• Participation in all phases of the software development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, integration and testing.
• Contribute to software test plans and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with multiple programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
• Peer reviews and defect tracking/repair.
• Experience on Windows, Linux and RTOS environments.
• Occasional customer support travel (up to 5%).

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and experience of embedded real-time software development (VxWorks/Linux).
• Work closely with cross-functional team members to develop performance requirements and interface software with hardware components.
• Support and participate in all SDLC phases from requirements analysis to testing.
• Contribute to test plans, procedures, and technical docs.
• Demonstrate depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
• Participate in peer reviews and defect repair.
• Utilize multiple languages on Windows, Linux and embedded RTOS.
• Occasional travel for customer support (5%).
