Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead small software teams and design robust, scalable software for a high-availability aviation network. You will determine software architecture from system requirements and collaborate across engineering, test, and field operations to deliver complex air-ground communications solutions.

Ideal candidates have strong leadership, experience with real-time embedded systems, and a solid background in software architecture.

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to create an architectural vision and successfully lead a team in its implementation.
• Strong understanding of architecture design principles and governance.
• Prior experience as a software architect for a real-time embedded system.
• Experience with software architecture tools and techniques.
• Experience with a variety of messaging and communication protocols.
• Experience with High-Availability systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform full life-cycle software development including designing system and software solutions; supporting implementation, integration, acceptance testing and deployment.
• Lead highly technical software engineering teams on challenging software upgrades and features.
• Provide analysis for the decomposition of technical system level requirements into sub-system software requirements and design.
• Support a large-scale global aviation network infrastructure with heavy design focus in redundancy, high availability, and security.
• Develop software for air-ground/ground-ground communication, positional data processing, transport/routing/link layer protocols, radio interfaces, hardware/OS customization, and remote deployment capabilities.
• Collaborate with system engineering/performance, network engineering, system acceptance and field operation teams.
• Provide support for product deployment, field monitoring, troubleshooting and operator trainings.
