Integrated Solutions for Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and test embedded C/C++ software for the R-EGI program, integrating GPS/GNSS, inertial sensors, and navigation components on embedded Linux platforms.

The role requires hands-on development, hardware bring-up, and collaboration with systems, hardware, and test teams, including qualification activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
• Strong C and C++ proficiency for embedded or real-time applications.
• Hands-on experience developing, integrating, and debugging software on embedded Linux systems.
• Experience with hardware interfaces, device drivers, or low-level software and diagnosing hardware/software integration issues.
• Experience using laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or debuggers to troubleshoot embedded systems.
• Experience with software requirements, interface definitions, verification, and configuration management.
• Experience with Git, cross-compilation toolchains, and automated builds.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded C/C++ software for navigation processing, device interfaces, middleware, and system control.
• Develop and debug software on embedded Linux platforms, including interactions with device drivers, OS services, and hardware interfaces.
• Integrate GPS/GNSS receivers, IMUs, and other navigation inputs; work with navigation engineers to implement sensor-fusion and estimation functions.
• Diagnose system-level issues involving software timing, sensor data, electrical interfaces, and hardware behavior.
• Support hardware bring-up and software integration in lab environments.
• Develop automated tests, diagnostic tools, and scripts to improve software integration, regression testing, and troubleshooting.
• Support simulation, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop testing, including GPS-degraded scenarios.
• Translate system and interface requirements into software designs, test procedures, and verification evidence.
• Participate in code reviews, configuration management, defect resolution, and software releases.
• Support technical reviews and program milestones (PDR/CDR/TRR) and qualification activities.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and help resolve complex embedded software issues.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer — R-EGI Program

Position Overview

IS4S is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop, integrate, and test software for the R-EGI program. R-EGI brings together GPS/GNSS, inertial sensors, and other navigation capabilities to support resilient positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) for military aircraft.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who is comfortable developing C/C++ software on embedded Linux systems, bringing up software on hardware, and solving problems at the boundary between software, sensors, and avionics. The engineer will work closely with systems, navigation, hardware, and test teams through integration and qualification.

Key Responsibilities

• Design,
  develop, test, and maintain embedded C/C++ software for navigation
  processing, device interfaces, middleware, and system control.

  in GPS-degraded and GPS-denied environments.
• Experience
  with aircraft avionics interfaces such as MIL-STD-1553 or ARINC 429.
• Experience
  developing and integrating systems that use modern embedded processing
  platforms, such as the AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC.
• Experience
  with real-time Linux, VxWorks, INTEGRITY, or another real-time operating
  system.
• Experience
  with software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop testing and system
  integration labs.
• Proficiency
  in Python for test automation, data analysis, or diagnostic tools.
• Ability
  to read electrical schematics, interface diagrams, and hardware
  documentation.
• Experience
  supporting formal software qualification or airworthiness activities.
• Active
  DoD Secret clearance or higher.
