Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering to design, develop, and refactor an SV OCT software adaptor in an embedded Linux environment. You will lead the team, refine tests, and collaborate with vendors to ensure robust software against space vehicle terminals.

Requirements include 4+ years embedded C/C++ experience, Linux, and experience mentoring engineers. On-site in Palm Bay, FL with a focus on quality and security practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• 4+ years of experience in embedded software development using C/C++ with object‑oriented design.
• Experience with embedded Linux, including modern software development APIs, network communications, and possible use of containerization.
• Experience with software development tools such as compilers, debuggers, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, implementation, and testing of updated FSW in C++ in embedded Linux.
• Understand OCT operations, scheduling of peer-to-peer contacts, link establishment, and pointing vectors.
• Develop and maintain an embedded Linux code baseline, DevOps pipeline, configuration management, and docs.
• Update and refactor integration/test procedures for new vendors and larger SV baseline.
• Execute Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) per refactored FSW requirements.
• Update Python scripts for simulation and testing used in integration and FQT.
• Collaborate with FSW leadership to align schedules and resolve issues.
• Interact with OCT vendors and L3Harris engineers for seamless hardware integration.
