Job summary

Iridex Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and develop software and embedded systems for its ophthalmic medical devices. This hands-on role requires cross-functional collaboration with electrical, hardware, and QA teams to deliver reliable software in a regulated environment.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in embedded software, regulatory documentation, and modern programming practices, with a focus on robust design and verification in a medical device setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably embedded/electromechanical systems.
• Experience developing software for FDA-regulated medical devices and related documentation.
• Hands-on experience in FDA-compliant Quality Systems including software V&V, risk management, and design controls.
• Strong C/C++ and/or Python programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software and embedded systems for medical laser products.
• Develop software for embedded controllers, interfaces, diagnostics, and engineering tools.
• Write clean, well-documented code in C/C++ and Python.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on software/hardware interfaces.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests.
