Job summary

INOVIO is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, verify, and sustain safety-critical embedded software for electroporation and drug delivery medical devices. The role covers embedded C++ development, platform software, and device drivers across RTOS, Embedded Linux, and Android platforms.

You will work on real-time control, cybersecurity, hardware bring-up, and compliance with medical device standards. This is a full‑time on‑site position in the San Diego area.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• 7+ years of embedded software development experience in real-time systems
• Experience on ARM Cortex-M, Linux, and/or Android platforms
• Strong experience with RTOS frameworks (ThreadX, FreeRTOS, RTX, Micrium OS)
• Proven experience developing BSPs, HALs, device drivers
• Experience with electromechanical systems, motor control, battery-operated devices, displays, and sensors
• Knowledge of IEC 62304, IEC 81001-5-1, ISO 14971, FDA cybersecurity guidance and software risk management

Responsibilities

• Design and implement electromechanical control systems including motor control and battery management
• Develop safety-critical embedded software on microcontrollers, RTOS, Embedded Linux, and Android
• Create platform software, BSPs, middleware, and device drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, USB, ADC/DAC, PWM, and displays
• Develop embedded UI/display applications and system-level software features
• Implement software controlling electroporation therapy delivery and real-time control
• Maintain software lifecycle documentation and verification artifacts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including regulatory and cybersecurity
• Support CI/CD pipelines and sustaining engineering for released products
