Job summary

Iridex Corporation in San Jose is seeking a Manufacturing Electrical Engineer to design, develop, integrate, test, and transfer electrical hardware for our complex Class II Medical Laser Systems, combining hardware with software/firmware expertise.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, QA, Regulatory Affairs and Operations to ensure products are manufacturable, reliable, compliant, and efficiently supported throughout the lifecycle, applying DFMA and leading test/verification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years in electrical/hardware or related fields; medical device experience preferred.
• Experience with DFMA and ECO/ECN processes.
• Experience with NPI, design transfer, and sustaining engineering.
• PCB design tools: Altium, Cadence, Mentor Graphics; strong hardware/software interfaces.
• Software/firmware development in C/C++, Python, LabVIEW.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot analog and digital electrical systems for medical devices.
• Maintain schematics, PCBAs, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Perform circuit analysis, component selection, and root cause analysis of systems.
• Provide hands-on manufacturing support to troubleshoot issues and improve yields.
• Develop and maintain PCBA/system-level test procedures.
• Support new product introduction, prototypes, design transfer, and sustaining activities.
• Apply DFMA to improve manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.
• Develop, modify, and debug embedded software/firmware and test applications.
• Create scripts and automated tests; participate in ECO/ECN processes.
• Contribute to quality/regulatory activities and cross‑functional collaboration.
