Meet Life Sciences in St. Paul, MN, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative medical device engineering team.

You will contribute hands-on expertise to bring life-changing technologies from concept to reality, working with software, electrical, mechanical, systems, and quality engineers while partnering with clients to develop safe, reliable embedded software. You will own software architecture, mentor engineers, and lead the full development lifecycle, applying FDA regulations

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
5–9+ years of embedded software development experience, ideally in medical devices or a regulated industry.
Experience as a technical lead or leading small software engineering teams.
Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to clients and cross-functional teams.
Significant experience with embedded Linux, Yocto Project, BSP, and driver configuration.
Expert-level experience with C, C++, and/or C#, including multithreading.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design, and testing at unit, integration, and system levels.
Experience developing GUI applications and familiarity with MVC/MVVM/MVP patterns.
Experience with Qt Framework/QML is highly desirable.
Experience with microcontroller programming and RTOS environments such as ThreadX.

Responsibilities

Lead embedded software development for regulated medical device products.
Define, analyze, and allocate software requirements with clients and cross-functional teams.
Develop software architecture and decide on functionality, performance, cost, safety, and security.
Lead software teams through architecture, design, coding, testing, and integration.
Plan work, delegate tasks, and coordinate software execution against milestones and budgets.
Design, implement, debug, and test production-quality source code.
Ensure strong technical quality across software architecture, design, documentation, and code.
Mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership via design and code reviews.
Support software process improvements and internal software library initiatives.
Apply knowledge of FDA regulations and IEC 62304 to software safety and cybersecurity.
Work within an agile development environment and pursue continuous improvement.
