Job summary

Tactile Medical in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded software for regulated medical devices. You will lead complex firmware features for microcontroller-based systems with RTOS or bare-metal.

Collaborating with hardware teams and offshore resources, you’ll ensure release-ready software, connectivity capabilities, and robust documentation. A bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of firmware experience, plus strong C/C++, IEC 62304/ISO 14971

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
7+ years of firmware/embedded software experience for commercial products.
Strong C/C++ development for microcontroller-based systems (RTOS or bare-metal).
Experience with regulated medical devices and FDA pathways (510(k) a plus).
Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 14971, software verification, and design controls.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain embedded firmware for regulated medical devices.
Lead complex firmware features from concept through release and post-market support.
Collaborate with hardware, external partners, and offshore teams to deliver robust solutions.
Develop connectivity features (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cloud, mobile) and software lifecycle artifacts.
Produce and maintain design documentation, requirements traceability, and risk management artifacts.
Participate in architecture reviews and code reviews to elevate product quality.
