Job summary
Medela is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our R&D team in a hybrid role (3 days onsite in McHenry, IL). You will develop embedded software for medical devices using C, C++, and Python, guiding architecture and cross-functional integration with hardware.
The role requires 6+ years of device-focused experience, and a strong background in software lifecycle, tests, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of embedded software development experience in medical devices.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills and Python exposure.
- Experience with microprocessors, RTOS and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with SPI, I2C, RS232/RS485 and related protocols.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git/Azure DevOps and testing.
- Understanding of IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software for medical devices using C, C++, and Python.
- Translate requirements into software architecture and implementation.
- Integrate software with hardware and EC systems; drive testing and traceability.
- Lead code reviews and promote best practices across the team.
- Support CI/CD, verification, validation, and lab debugging.
