Job summary

Medela is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with firmware experience for medical devices. You will design and develop firmware for microcontroller-based medical devices while collaborating with electrical, systems, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams.

In a regulated environment, you will work with Embedded C/C++, RTOS or bare-metal systems, develop device drivers and HALs, support testing and validation, and ensure traceability and compliance throughout the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Strong Embedded C/C++ programming experience.
• Experience with MCU firmware development.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, BLE, Wi‑Fi, or MQTT.
• Experience with JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
• Experience with RTOS or bare-metal systems.
• Understanding of software lifecycle, testing, verification, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test embedded firmware for MCUs in medical devices.
• Create and maintain device drivers, HALs, bootloaders, diagnostics, and production test software.
• Support board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
• Work with RTOS and bare-metal embedded systems.
• Develop interfaces using UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, BLE, Wi‑Fi, MQTT.
• Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements throughout the software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, systems, manufacturing, quality, regulatory).
