Job summary

Raytheon seeks a senior embedded software engineer to join our team in Tewksbury, MA. The role focuses on real-time embedded software and firmware with Linux-based targets, demanding strong C/C++ skills and a security-clearance‑capable background.

You will collaborate with Systems Engineering, participate in design and integration discussions, and develop hardened software across multiple RTOS platforms while ensuring system integrity and cross-team alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• At least 5 years of experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
• Experience in Linux environment and kernel/root filesystem modification.
• Experience developing multithreaded applications.
• Experience building with CMake and Google Test.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required for the security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and test real-time embedded software and firmware with a focus on system integrity.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering to create design concepts and architecture documentation.
• Participate in technical integration meetings with subcontractors to verify hardware/software compliance.
• Design and develop hardened software applications using embedded engineering principles.
• Build software in C and C++ across Linux and other real-time operating systems.
• Ensure alignment across teams and help remove blockers as they arise.
• Support debugging and issue resolution on embedded targets and at system/board level.
