Job summary

National Instruments (NI) in Austin is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to embedded and driver software products within Emerson’s Test & Measurement (T&M) unit. You will work with product architects, managers, and peers in an agile environment to implement designs and deliver high-quality software.

In this role you will deliver features, design architecture, implement new capabilities, troubleshoot defects, and develop tests to ensure code quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming with C++.
• Experience with Windows and Linux OS drivers.
• Understanding of OS concepts, embedded/Kernels, and low-level HW/SW integration.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product features by researching, designing, developing, and documenting.
• Collaborate with team on design discussions and code architecture.
• Specify, design, and implement new product features.
• Troubleshoot defects and drive resolution with the team.
• Develop tests to ensure code quality and catch regressions.
• Peer review code changes submitted by teammates.
• Participate in standups, backlog reviews, retrospectives, and planning sessions.
• Explore new technologies to continually improve infrastructure and processes.
