Job summary

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Autonomy) to join a multi-site team supporting aerospace and defense programs. You will develop embedded software for autonomous flight systems, integrate with ArduPilot/PX4, and work across Linux/Windows environments.

Travel ~25% and security clearance eligibility are required. The role demands strong coding in C/C++, Java, Python, and Bash, plus experience with Git and containerization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, CS, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of software development experience in C, C++, Java, Python, and Bash for embedded systems.
• Experience with autonomous flight systems using ArduPilot or PX4.
• Experience with UAS/UAV or RC aircraft operations and troubleshooting.
• Proficient with Git for source control and collaboration.
• Understanding of robotics, autonomous systems, flight software, and embedded design.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows development environments.
• Ability to communicate project status and collaborate with clients and peers.
• Ability to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance.
• Travel ~25%.

Responsibilities
