Job summary

Polluxa, Inc. is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer/Architect to design, develop, and optimize mission-critical embedded software for ground, airborne, and space-based systems, including SSPA and BUC platforms.

The role focuses on real-time embedded software development using Linux, Yocto, VxWorks, and FreeRTOS, with responsibilities spanning drivers, control algorithms, monitoring, power management, and fault-detection software. On-site work in the United States is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong experience with Yocto Project.
• Experience with VxWorks OR FreeRTOS.
• Hands-on experience in Embedded Software OR Device Driver development.
• Aerospace/Defense industry experience required.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with embedded communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, or Modbus.
• Strong understanding of RTOS, debugging, embedded development tools, and software architecture.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and architect real-time embedded software using Linux, Yocto, VxWorks, and/or FreeRTOS.
• Design device drivers, control algorithms, monitoring, power management, and fault-detection software.
• Develop software in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Support embedded software development through design, integration, testing, qualification, and production.
• Collaborate with RF, electrical, mechanical, systems, and program engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with DO-178, MIL-STD, EMI/EMC, reliability, and environmental requirements.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical trade studies, troubleshooting, and software verification/validation.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across embedded software projects.
