Job summary

FutureJobHub is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer/Architect to design and optimize mission-critical embedded software for ground, airborne, and space-based systems. You will develop alongside RF, electrical, mechanical, and program teams to ensure robust DO-178 and MIL-STD compliance.

The role requires hands-on work with Linux, Yocto, VxWorks or FreeRTOS, and device-driver development in a high-assurance environment. A security clearance is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong experience with Yocto Project.
• Experience with VxWorks OR FreeRTOS.
• Hands-on experience in Embedded Software OR Device Driver development.
• Aerospace/Defense industry experience required.
• Experience with embedded communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, or Modbus.
• Strong understanding of RTOS, debugging, embedded development tools, and software architecture.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and architect real-time embedded software for ground, airborne, and space-based systems.
• Design device drivers, control algorithms, monitoring, power management, and fault-detection software.
• Develop software in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Support embedded software development through design, integration, testing, qualification, and production.
• Collaborate with RF, electrical, mechanical, systems, and program engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with DO-178, MIL-STD, EMI/EMC, reliability, and environmental requirements.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical trade studies, troubleshooting, and software verification/validation.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across embedded software projects.
