Job summary

TylSemi, Inc. in San Jose, CA is hiring a Senior Embedded SERDES Firmware/Diagnostics Engineer to architect, develop, and bring up firmware for Ethernet SerDes, retimers, and diagnostics.

You will collaborate with ASIC, module, manufacturing, test, and reliability teams to define architectures and drive robust firmware flow. You will lead bring-up, testing, and calibration for high-yield production, while shaping digital requirements for custom control ASICs and MCUs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in embedded firmware engineering.
• Expert C and C-based SDK development; exposure to modern C++ or Rust.
• Experience defining MCU requirements (ARM, RISC-V) and IO interfaces.
• Strong Python for test automation and QC.
• Hands-on with GCC/Make, Git/GitHub, Doxygen, CI/CD, and hardware-in-the-loop automation.
• Leadership in cross-functional bring-up and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architecture, develop, debug, and release production firmware for Ethernet SerDes, retimers, and diagnostics.
• Define digital requirements for custom control ASICs, MCU selection, memory maps, boot sequence, peripherals, telemetry, diagnostics, MACsec engines, and PTP hardware timestamping.
• Partner with ASIC, RTL, and verification teams on architecture, bring-up, and system-level debug.
• Build and maintain firmware for Ethernet, PCIe, and SerDes, including PTP/IEEE 1588, MACsec, and host interfaces.
• Lead first firmware bring-up on new modules and ASICs, drive root-cause analysis across lab, qualification, and field returns.
• Deliver firmware for manufacturing test, screening, calibration engines, and lookup tables for high-yield production.
• Own the firmware workflow (build/release pipelines, automated tests, regression coverage, CI).
