Job summary

WHOOP is seeking a Senior Sensor Intelligence Engineer to join the Embedded Controls team. You will develop real-time signal-processing and ML algorithms for wearable sensors, and design intelligent strategies that adapt sensor operation under power and device-state constraints.

Work spans from sensor physics and algorithm development to embedded deployment, collaborating with Firmware, Hardware, and Data Science teams to enable advanced sensing in WHOOP devices.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong foundation in digital signal processing and time-series analysis applied to real-world sensor data.
• Experience turning algorithms into real-time embedded implementations for constrained devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop signal-processing and ML algorithms for wearable sensor signals (activity, wear detection, signal quality, device-state estimation).
• Design intelligent embedded control strategies that adapt sensor behavior based on signal quality and power constraints.
• Characterize sensors by understanding signal behavior, noise, calibration, and acquisition.
• Prototype algorithms in Python or MATLAB and translate to efficient embedded implementations with Firmware Engineering.
• Collaborate with Firmware, Electrical, Data Science, Hardware teams to enable new sensing modalities.
• Develop experiments and validation methods to evaluate performance across users and conditions.
