Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Product Cybersecurity Engineer to secure next‑generation connected medical devices. The role is onsite at the Tech Center in St. Paul, MN, collaborating with software, firmware, hardware, and product teams to embed security from concept to deployment.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in cybersecurity engineering, strong expertise in secure boot, PKI, firmware security, and threat modeling, and excellent communication with technical and regulatory stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, product security, embedded systems, or related fields.
• 5+ years securing embedded devices, firmware, medical devices, or IoT products.
• Strong knowledge of Secure Boot, Hardware Root of Trust, Code Signing, PKI and Certificate Management.
• Experience with Threat Modeling (STRIDE, OWASP) and SBOM generation/analysis.
• Programming in C/C++, Python; Linux administration; embedded platforms.
• Familiarity with ARM-based processors, embedded Linux, RTOS, and connected devices.
• Strong written communication and ability to explain cybersecurity concepts to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Architect secure embedded systems and influence design decisions for medical devices.
• Lead cybersecurity architecture reviews and security-by-design initiatives.
• Develop and validate secure boot, TPM, secure firmware updates, and certificate management.
• Perform threat modeling, risk assessments, and CVE management.
• Conduct security testing, pen-testing coordination, and remediation tracking.
• Engage with regulatory, QA, and product teams for cybersecurity submissions.
• Mentor engineering teams and drive continuous improvement of security practices.
