Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Saint Paul, MN, to develop software for embedded medical devices in the EP division. You will contribute to system architecture, design, and testing across the product lifecycle.

The role requires extensive C++ expertise, GUI work with Qt/QML, OpenGL/CUDA, and Linux experience. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure safety, reliability, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering.
10+ years of software engineering design.
2-3 years providing technical leadership and mentorship.
Experience translating requirements into architectures and designs.
Experience in medical device development and regulated environments.
Excellent documentation skills in a highly regulated development environment.
Excellent Object-Oriented Design with modern C++.
GUI development with Qt/QML.
Strong OpenGL shader language or CUDA experience.
OpenGL 2D/3D texture mapping understanding.
Linux OS experience.
Full product lifecycle software development.

Responsibilities

Develop and document software for embedded medical devices in electrophysiology.
Contribute to software architecture across development programs.
Create and execute software test plans and reports.
Collaborate with QA, RA, test engineers, and hardware engineers to meet safety and reliability requirements.
Make technical decisions based on investigation and testing.
Transfer solutions to manufacturing and support sustained development after launch.
