Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Staff Cyber Security Engineer in Sylmar, CA for its Cardiac Rhythm Management division. You’ll lead manufacturing cybersecurity initiatives, assess vulnerabilities, and work with R&D and IT to implement balanced security solutions for complex medical devices.

You will interact with external researchers, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and robust defense-in-depth. This role requires strong leadership and hands-on technical expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in engineering or sciences.
  • 7+ years of related experience with BS Degree in Engineering or Sciences.
  • 5+ years of related experience with MS Degree in Engineering or Sciences.
  • Experience as an analyst, engineer, developer, or architect with core cybersecurity responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform product manufacturing cybersecurity activities, including incident response and vulnerability assessments.
  • Develop manufacturing intrusion detection activities.
  • Lead manufacturing risk assessments with product R&D teams and recommend security controls.
  • Participate in creating and testing manufacturing security requirements and processes.
  • Evaluate and test security risks across the product development life cycle.
  • Manage security deliverables for regulatory bodies ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Work with third-party manufacturers on cybersecurity processes in manufacturing.
  • Develop and share advanced technical ideas and guide them to final product.
  • Sustain internal and external security testing capabilities and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
  • Champion SDLC implementation across projects.
  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements software and tools.
  • Define system software design requirements and ensure improvements are monitored.
