Job summary

L3Harris is seeking an experienced Embedded Test Engineer in San Diego to design, verify, and integrate automated RF test systems for production. You will work on embedded Linux, FPGAs, and CPLDs, developing tests with LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, and C++.

Collaborate across RF design, systems, and manufacturing to ensure robust hardware testing across development, qualification, and production. The role emphasizes RF instrumentation, data analysis, and transitioning tests into manufacturing,

Qualifications

• Experience with RF test, RF integration, or related engineering roles.
• Experience with test automation and data analysis tools.
• Experience with digital logic and differential communication protocols.
• Experience with embedded Linux and associated applications.
• Experience with encryption systems and architecture.
• Understanding of RF/microwave principles and S-parameters.
• Hands-on proficiency with common RF lab instrumentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and measurement issues.
• Familiarity with Linux, VHDL, and development boards.

Responsibilities

• Design automated test systems for production testing with multi-unit capabilities.
• Develop and program embedded systems with Linux, FPGAs, and CPLDs.
• Create automated test solutions using LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, and C++.
• Develop and document test plans, procedures, and reports for components and systems.
• Set up and operate RF test equipment (SAs, signal generators, VNAs, power meters, scopes).
• Troubleshoot RF performance issues at board, module, and system levels.
• Support design verification for transmitters, receivers, encryptors/decryptors, and amplifiers.
• Analyze test data and provide technical conclusions to design teams.
• Collaborate with RF design, systems, manufacturing, quality, and production.
• Maintain test documentation, calibration requirements, and configuration records.
• Assist in transitioning test methods from development to manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Design for Test (DfT) and Design for Manufacturing (DfM).
