Job summary

Draper is seeking a software engineer to develop embedded real-time avionics systems for high-performance, resource-constrained targets across undersea, terrestrial, air, and space domains.

The role covers full SDLC from design to field deployment, with mentoring of junior staff and potential leadership of a small team of developers. A B.S. in CS or related field is required; M.S. preferred, with 5–10 years in software engineering and embedded RTOS experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field; master’s preferred.
• 5–10 years experience in software engineering or related field.
• Embedded software development with RTOSs (VxWorks, Integrity, embedded Linux, Zephyr, FreeRTOS).
• Experience with device drivers, boot code, and embedded system buses (CAN, I2C, SPI, Serial).
• Knowledge of safety-critical standards (DO-178C) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute task assignments and lead a small team of software developers.
• Design algorithms and software for high-performance embedded real-time avionics systems.
• Develop tests to verify requirements and document procedures and outputs.
• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to capture requirements and describe designs.
