Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced test engineer to drive verification and validation for embedded products such as power meters and environmental monitors. You will design test coverage for embedded Linux software, firmware, and device-level features, and execute system- and integration-level tests mirroring real-world deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar field; 5–10 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated experience in software quality, test engineering, or verification roles with a focus on embedded or systems-level testing.
• Hands-on experience testing embedded Linux systems and firmware-driven devices.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and validating device communications over wired and wireless networks.
• Experience testing industrial or building-automation protocols (Modbus, BACnet, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Promote and evolve the V&V strategy for embedded products.
• Design, implement, and maintain manual and automated test coverage for embedded software and device-level features.
• Develop and execute system-, integration-, regression-, and stress tests mirroring real-world deployments.
• Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to review requirements and ensure testability.
• Investigate field and manufacturing issues by reproducing failures and performing root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to test automation frameworks and CI pipelines to improve repeatability and release confidence.
• Validate industrial and building-automation protocols and device-to-cloud interactions (MQTT).
• Define quality metrics and provide data-driven assessments of release readiness.
